THE PERSONAL EXCHANGE WITH FARMERS ABOUT ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITIES AND THE DEVELOPMENT OF ORGANIC COTTON AND ALTERNATIVE CROPS IS VERY IMPORTANT FOR REMEI <\/h5>

“After 2 long pandemic years, we are grateful to be able to regularly have our exchanges between the Swiss Remei and the subsidiaries in India and Tanzania in person again”,<\/em> say Simon Hohmann and Marion R\u00f6ttges.

The current visit of Simon Hohmann and Marion R\u00f6ttges to India was all the more welcomed by the local Remei team and the cooperating farmers, but especially by the co-managers themselves. During the current visit in April 22, they met farmers who have been contractually linked to Remei India Ltd. for many years and are thus involved in Remei’s long-term planning and textile supply chain.

During a visit to the farmers in Dogawa village, the focus was on personal encounters and appreciation of the long-standing relationship.

“We were again moved by the fact that some farmers have been working with Remei since 1994 and are included in Remei’s purchase guarantees and premium payments.” <\/em>

After a warm exchange with the women farmers’ group in village Kakadkhodri, Mandleshwar, we were allowed to witness the digging of the “horn dung” there, which had been buried in cow horns in the ground for last 6 months. According to the Hindu calendar, the extraction of the horn dung annually marks the beginning of the new year and the new cosmic energies. The women farmers themselves produce biodynamic preparations from the extracted horn dung to vitalise the soil for the sowing of this year’s cotton crop coming up next month.
