    Organic cotton harvest and buying-up in Tanzania: Marion R\u00f6ttges Co-CEO of Remei on the spot<\/h3>

    This year’s organic cotton harvest and buying up in Tanzania has begun <\/h5>

    The organic cotton that Remei buys directly from farmers in Tanzania still has a long way to go before it after processing in the Remei supply chain can be found in the SS 24 collections of Remei’s textile trading partners.

    “It is the direct and long-standing cooperation with farmers that makes it possible for Remei to develop togetherness and long-term planning in the supply chain for organic cotton textiles,”<\/em> says Marion R\u00f6ttges.

    Remei Tanzania, the subsidiary of the Swiss Remei, works participatively in Tanzania with around 2,200 independent organic cotton farmers in 32 villages in the Meatu and Maswa regions. The company and the cooperating farmers are at the beginning of the sustainable and fully transparent Remei supply chain for traceable organic cotton textiles.

    Via a sewn-in QR code in each textile and the digital traceability tool “my-trace by Remei”, everyone can virtually immerse themselves in the journey of cotton and textile production. Many of Remei’s B2B trading partners are already using this technology to connect their consumers directly to the raw material.

    Farmers receive a purchase guarantee and premium above the regional market price from Remei for their performance in organic farming.
