Clean clothes? A question of the supply chain

Under this title Gregory Remez reports in the Luzerner Zeitung about the fact that Remei fully Reveal its textile value chain, also for consumers. A rarity in the industry.

Marion Röttges, Co-CEO of Remei is quoted in the article by Remez: “The key is not only to control supply chains, but to develop them.”

“There is a culture of lack of responsibility that not only destroys the planet, but also disadvantages those who are at the beginning of the supply chain: the farmers”.

The article continues: “That is why one wants to do things differently in Rotkreuz. Instead of playing the farmers off against each other and urging them to use pesticides, Remei treats them as independent entrepreneurs and lets them share in the profits. Through its two subsidiaries in India and Tanzania, it has already signed contracts with over 5000 small farmers as producers of organic cotton. If these farmers follow the rules and avoid the use of chemicals, they receive not only a purchase guarantee from Remei, but also a premium.”
