Fashion Revolution. Strong partners: greenpeacemagazin x Remei
After the biggest accident in the international textile industry in 2013, a debate emerged about the conditions of workers in the fast fashion industry: too low wages, too long working hours, too few breaks, unprotected handling of chemicals – just to name a few. There is another way! And much better:
A non-toxic production is possible! And this is a great success and a silver lining for ecosystems, for the people involved in global textile production and for consumers who are consciously looking for clean fashion.
Since 2011 @greenpeace.de has been campaigning for a detoxification of the textile value chain with the “Detox My Fashion” campaign and has committed many renowned manufacturers to real progress in this area. As a consequence of this work, Greenpeace has set up a “Detox-compliant” standard for its own textile procurement. Detox-free production, standards in raw material production, social sustainability and supply chain transparency are the core issues, both in the campaign and for our own textiles. The Greenpeace standard is currently considered best practice in the textile industry.

For the Greenpeace Media collection Remei is performing the product development, ensures the availability of fair trade bioRe® organic cotton from small farmers in Tanzania and controls the entire production along the textile value chain. The textiles of the detox collection are made of 100 percent bioRe® organic cotton. Detox textiles from Greenpeace are certified with the bioRe® Sustainable Textiles label and are individually traceable by a traceability code in Remei’s Traceability Tool.
The detox collection is available in the warehouse of greenpeacemagazin:@greenpeacemagazin.warenhaus.
