On April 29, the 2nd part of an e-learning series by OCRT took place. Several Organic cotton sourcing models were presented.

Marco Paul, CO-CEO of bioRe Tanzania Ltd, spoke about the origins of bioRe Tanzania Ltd and the reasons that led to the growth of the successful organisiation from a project since 1994, which today works with about 1900 bioRe organic cotton farmers in Tanzania as an established organic cotton sourcing organisation. Important factors in the long-term approach of organic cotton are the secured purchasing guarantee given by Remei, premium in addition to the market price payed by Remei, as well as trainings and close support of farmers professionally ensured by bioRe Tanzania Ltd., as well as trust and long-term relationship with the farmers.

When sourcing organic cotton, brands should consider supporting farmers in the in-conversion period, and allow farmers to plan for the long term. This will increase their motivation to produce more organic cotton,” says Marco Paul.
Remei is the founder and owner of the organisations bioRe Tanzania Ltd. and bioRe India Ltd. which form the unique starting point of Remei’s Fibre to Fashion supply chain.
