Great climate? A task for the future! Textile Review 09/21
To stop global warming and to avert a catastrophe, the emission of the greenhouse gas CO2 must be reduced to zero.
In the article entitled “Great climate? A future task!” for the Swiss Textile Review, Stefanie Hütz reports on Remei’s insetting approach:
“Remei AG even directly strengthens its own supply chain with CO2 offsetting. Remei has already been producing CO2-neutral textiles since 2013. Among other things, the compensation flows into financing the construction of biogas plants in India as well as efficient stoves in Tanzania for the farming families in the areas where the raw material is cultivated. The finding: 300 efficient stoves save about as much CO2 as is produced in the production of 100,000 T-shirts. Incidentally, according to Remei surveys, spinning and dyeing contribute to particularly high emissions, followed by cotton ginning, garment making and logistics.”
