Remei Co-CEO Simon Hohmann visits Remei Tanzania and cooperating organic cotton farmers
The global corona pandemic has not made travel between the Swiss Remei and the Remei subsidiaries in India and Tanzania any easier. The current visit and exchange of Simon Hohmann in Tanzania was all the more welcomed by the team over there and the cooperating farmers.
Intensive exchange on site
Direct information from the cooperating farmers’ point of view has been of great importance to Remei since its foundation in the 1980s, and this has not changed until today. During the current visit, a meeting with Sawa Lugulu, the representative of the cooperating farmers, was on the agenda, as was a visit to the experienced organic woman farmer Nchambi Shishi, who has been working with Remei Tanzania since 1994.
Expansion of cooperation to Mwabuzo, Mwamatiga and Mwanjolo villages
To meet the growing demand for organic cotton from Tanzania, Remei is expanding its collaboration with smallholder organic cotton farmers in the Meatu and Maswa regions to more villages. Farmers from Mwabuzo, Mwamatiga and Mwanjolo are now working with Remei Tanzania, converting from conventional to organic farming.
