Remei India CEO, Vivek Rawal, shares his experience of the world’s longest running organic cotton project with over 3,000 farmers at the Organic Cotton Summit

OCA ORGANIC COTTON SUMMIT | Monday, 8 November 2021, 13:40 CET | 18:10 IST | From the Ground Up | Vivek Rawal

Join Vivek Rawal, CEO of Remei India, and Ruud Schute, Programme Director of OCA, for a discussion on the critical role that implementing partners and farming businesses play in supporting cotton farmers to adopt organic practices and help them overcome new agricultural challenges. The conversation will provide on-the-ground insights into why the organic sector needs to be made more equitable for farmers to overcome the 1% statistic in production.

Vivek Rawal is CEO and Director of Remei India Ltd, a pioneering organic cotton company founded in 1991 by the Swiss trading company Remei AG. Vivek Rawal is responsible for managing the world’s longest running organic cotton project with over 3,000 farmers.

This year’s two-day OCA- Organic Cotton Summit will be held virtually and will address the pressing issue of ‘Pushing Past the 1%’. Less than 1% of the cotton currently grown globally is certified organic, a discouraging statistic if you believe that organic cotton is the key to transforming the sustainable textile sector.
