Remei India Ltd. further expands its advisory services on organic farming topics
Remei India Ltd. is at the beginning of the sustainable and transparent Remei supply chain for textiles made from organic cotton with a trustworthy origin and promotes organic cultivation in the region.
Remei’s Indian subsidiary has been working directly with farmers for many years to grow organic cotton in a participatory way. The farmers receive a purchase guarantee from Remei and a premium above the regional market price, as well as know-how in organic cultivation.
As part of the OCA Farm Programme, Remei India Ltd. also acts as a consultant, sharing its extensive knowledge of organic farming and in working with organic farmers with local and international companies. Remei India’s consultancy clients include British brand Superdry and Superdry implementation partner Symbiofarm Agriventures.
During a visit in early June, Vivek Rawal, CEO of Remei India Ltd, was able to take the representatives of superdry on a tour of Remei India’s facilities. They were able to visit the organic farm’s seed breeding facility, learn more about the GMO testing process in the in-house Elisa laboratory and find out about natural composting methods.
The programme also included a visit to Anjangaon village in the Bilali zone, where visitors had the opportunity to speak directly with farmers and learn first-hand about the extension services Remei India provides to farmers. Another item on the programme was participation in a training session for women in Gulzara village on preparing organic inputs for the pre-sowing period.
Since the integration of Remei India into the Remei Group in 2020, the company has continuously developed and expanded its advisory services.
