Remei Tanzania Ltd. informs its stakeholders about the completed name change
On 2 February, Remei Tanzania invited the local stakeholders, the farmer representatives of the cooperating village communities in the districts of Meatu and Maswa, to inform them about the name change to Remei Tanzania Ltd (formerly bioRe Tanzania Ltd).
The trusting cooperation with the organic cotton farmers that has existed since the 1990s will not be affected by the name change. The reliable trade relations with the farmers with a purchase guarantee, the additional payment of an organic premium by Remei, as well as continuous training in organic farming remain unchanged.
What is new is the awareness gained by the farmers that they are partners at the beginning of a transparent and sustainable supply chain for organic cotton textiles and that they are an important part of an international structure for fairly traded organic cotton and organic cotton textiles.
To the world outside, the change of name signals the affiliation to the Remei Group, which, in addition to Remei Tanzania Ltd, also includes the Indian sister company Remei India Ltd and the parent company, the textile trading company Remei in Switzerland.
MEETING OF FARMERS’ REPRESENTATIVES AT REMEI TANZANIA
For the late morning meeting at Remei Tanzania, the farmers’ representatives travelled from sometimes far-away villages. Each of the 32 villages that cooperate with Remei Tanzania provided a farmer representative.
At the event, the two CO-CEOs Charles Mabuga and Marco Paul informed about the name change. And Remei Co-CEO Simon Hohmann was also able to personally welcome the farmer representatives via video link and participate in the event.
The event ended with a joint lunch and the distribution of specially produced annual calendars to the farmers.
