The purchase of organic cotton from the Tanzanian subsidiary of Remei has begun

“I am happy about the good price I receive directly as cash payment when I sell my organic cotton. I also appreciate the professional support throughout the year until the sale of the organic cotton,” says Luhende John, an organic cotton farmer from Mwamishali village.

Already at the time of sale, the farmers receive an additional premium of 15% above the market price from the staff of the Tanzanian organic farming business of Remei for their performance in organic farming. In the Meatu District in Tanzania, bioRe Tanzania Ltd. works with more than 1,900 smallholder farmers from 29 villages who receive a purchase guarantee for their cotton.

The local team advises and supports the organic cotton farmers throughout the year. During regular visits, the farmers receive tips and instructions on organic farming and natural pest and weed control.

THE QUALITY OF THIS YEAR’S ORGANIC COTTON IS VERY GOOD

“I brought in and sold 486 kg of organic cotton today,” reports Luhende John.

Each village has a central storage hall where the sale of the organic cotton by the farmers and the purchase of the raw material by the organic farming business of Remei is handled. From there, the organic cotton is transported by truck to the ginning plant for further processing.
