Vivek Rawal at the Organic Cotton & Textiles Conference 2023

on empowering supply chains and ensuring availability of non-GM seeds in India

CEO of Remei India Ltd. and consulting partner of Organic Cotton Accelerator (OCA), Vivek Rawal, spoke as a panelist at the Organic Cotton & Textiles Conference 2023 in Indore on empowering textile supply chains and one of the current challenges in organic cotton farming in India, ensuring availability of GMO-free seeds to farmers.
 
Vivek Rawal and his team are advising the OCA on its programme to secure GMO-free cotton seed and on the implementation of guidelines for producers and processors of GMO-free cotton seed by seed companies.
 
Simon Hohmann, Co-CEO of the Swiss trading company for traceable organic cotton textiles Remei, also attended this year’s conference, in order to discuss with attending representatives of international trading companies the issue of the availability of GMO-free seed in organic cotton cultivation as well as existing potentials and opportunities that sustainable supply chains from fibre to finished textile can offer.
 
The multi-day Organic Cotton & Textiles Conference 2023 is a meeting place for industry representatives, non-profit organisations, scientists, suppliers, brands, certifiers, government officials and policy makers, and is co-hosted by the Organic Cotton Accelerator (OCA), the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) and the International Federation of Organic Agricultural Movements (IFOAM) – Organics International.
