Water Blessing in Tanzania

OUR LONG-STANDING TRADING PARTNER COOP HAS ALREADY MADE 97 WELLS AND 34 WATER TANKS POSSIBLE IN THE ORGANIC COTTON GROWING AREA OF NATURALINE TEXTILES

Many thanks to Coop for this great commitment!

The Coop newspaper reports on Coop’s commitment to organic cotton farmers in the region where the raw material for naturaline textiles is grown and accompanies Justina Samson for a day on the spot in Tanzania. Justina visits the farmers regularly, knows their concerns and wishes, and knows that the lack of water in times of low rainfall is a major challenge for the village communities.

In order to improve the drinking water supply in the villages, Coop has enabled the construction of 97 wells and 34 water tanks; in the last 5 years alone, 26 wells sponsored by Coop have been built. Together with the bioRe Foundation, Coop is committed to improving the living conditions of farmers and has been supporting specific projects of the non-profit bioRe Foundation in cotton growing areas for 25 years.

The long-standing Coop trading partner for organic cotton textiles Remei ensures the availability of the organic raw material and works together directly and participatively and with fair trade practices with the cotton farmers at the beginning of the textile supply chain for naturaline.

Around 5,000 small farmers in India and Tanzania produce around 2,500 tonnes of cotton annually according to organic standards and Coop sells an average of 540 basic naturaline shirts per day, made from fairly traded organic cotton.
