FiBL uses “Faces of Cotton” to make visible the people whose lives are closely linked to organic cotton and the SysCom project. With the SysCom long-term trials FiBL is researching the impacts of conventional and organic cultivation in India.

In doing so, the SysCom team works closely with local farmers and local partners, such as the Indian partner organizations of bioRe Foundation Switzerland, bioRe Association and Remei India Ltd, which have been implementing partners for the FiBL-led system comparison studies since 2007.

The portrait series “Faces of Organic Cotton” originated during a visit by FiBL Switzerland scientists to SysCom India. During their visit to the project area in October 2021, the FiBL scientists were impressed by the conviction of the people.

“The fact that organic farming is an integral part of their lives, and certainly more than just a way of farming, is also due to the great work and support given to the farmers by the local partners bioRe Association and Remei India Ltd, which goes far beyond the cotton field,” FiBL reports on its website.

The benefits for all registered organic farmers with Remei India Ltd are a purchase guarantee, a premium price and regular training on organic farming.
